The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili and Chairman of the Roads Department, George Seturidze are present in Adjara region and are being informed about the disaster relief works on-site.

Yesterday, as a result of heavy rain, the combination of soil and rock came down on both sides of the left tunnel of Chakvi-Makhinjauri. Therefore, the tunnel’s entrance and exit were closed. The transport traffic was unidirectional during several hours.

Due to heavy rain and flooding in the streets, the traffic movement in Chakvi, Makhinjauri and Batumi was impeded.

As a result of the works carried out by the appropriate services of Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Chakvi-Makhinjauri traffic was restored in the shortest time possible.
