According to the information provided by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the disaster relief works in Dariali Gorge are ongoing intensively. All equipment necessary to accomplish the works has been mobilized, the works related to the returning of the Terek River in its own natural river-bed are underway in order to start the arrangement of embankment immediately.

Due to the natural disaster activation process on June 23 at 18:00, there was banned the road traffic for any kind of transport in the dangerous zone, on the road section 134km-135km of Mtskheta-Stephantsminda- Larsi highway.

As a result of heavy rain, the torrent flowing from the Devdoraki Gorge blocked the river-bed of Terek, consequently Terek River changed its direction and about 800m road section of Mtskheta-Stephantsminda-Larsi highway was swept away by the floodwaters.

It is the third day as the Chairman of the Roads Department George Seturidze, his Deputy Chairman Irakli Khergiani and the appropriate services of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia remain in the disaster zone.
