Central road near village Sarpi shall be temporarily closed, due to collapsed rock blasting works

Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is being implementing blasting works within the large amount of rock and soil  mass collapsed restoration activities, at km 119 (Village Sarpi) of Senaki-Poti-Sarpi international road, that’s why central road will be closed from 15:00 am. As a result of clening works, traffic will be open today.

We would like to remind you that more than  2000 cubic meters  the rocky soil  collapsed at km119 ( Village Sarpi) of Senaki-Poti-Sarpi international road, yesterday night, which hindered traffit at highway.

Traffic has been restored, at the shortest possible time after operatively cleaning works performed by relevant services of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

At this time, to ensure safe movement of vehicles, damaged area is bounded, traffic is carried out on single strip of marginal way.

Representatives of special services are mobilized (mountain engineers) for  remaining demaged points collapse by blast through.

In order to detect threats in problematic and surrounding area, group of geologists are implementing research works. As a result of research, further preventive measures will be planned on rocky slopes.
