Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Khergiani inspected construction of 11,5 km section Samtredia-Grigoleti four-lane highway.

Road is characterized by waterlogged soil, construction is ongoing by application of modern PVD technology. Mentioned technology implies placement of vertical drains in the road base soil to ensure dissipation of water from the ground. This methodology reduces the likelihood of pavement deformation in future.

Project envisages construction of four-lane asphalt-concrete road, 8 bridge crossings and 27 structures.

At the moment works for construction of structures, road base and communication network are ongoing.

Mentioned section of highway runs through Samtredia city and villages of Samtredia and Abasha municipalities: Tolebi, Gormaghala, Pirveli Maisi and Gautskinari.

After completion of the project, will improve movements safety , transportation costs will be reduced thus fostering the increase of transit traffic.

Project cost is GEL 153,5 mln and  is being implemented by Ukrainian company “Road Building ALTCOM” under the financing of European Investment Bank.
