Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia provides photo materials reflecting works for protection  riverbed of river Chaqvistskali  under category of weekly pictures gallery. ,

Left embankment of river Korolistskali, located at densely populated area of the city, had been washed out intensively during deluge and floods. Road connecting to the settlement and several homestead lands was damaged due to wash outs.

If wash out process continued, it would pose a hazard to residential houses located along riverbed as well. 

Relevant riverbank protection measures were taken to prevent the disaster. Namely, combined riverbed protection structures. As a solution to mentioned problem it was decided to construct 3 m berm with boulders thus enabling protection of 186 m riverbank, on which  3 layer protective wall of stone gabion was arranged.

Works commenced  in March 2014 and will be completed within the recent year. Works activated with the weather improving and 90% of the project is implemented by this time.

Cost of the project is 174 999 thousand Gel and it is financed from the state budget.
