Traffic is diverted to a new section of Zestaponi-Kutaisi road; the length of a new road is about 5 km and one-way traffic is provided.

Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road project considers construction of 4-lane cement-concrete road along 15.2 km section, 9 parallel bridges, 1 viaduct, 2 road interchanges, 5 foot bridges, underpasses and reinforced concrete culverts.

Construction of the mentioned road is being implemented by financing of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Construction of Zestaponi-Kutaisi bypass road will be completed in 2016.
