Ruisi-Agara section of the highway is opened

Traffic was diverted on a new alignment at 15:00 pm of December 16th.  19,5 km Ruisi-Agara section of the highway is opened.

New road officially was opened by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili and World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Ms. Mercy Tembon. Ceremony was attended by: Acting Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia Mr. Nugzar Gasviani; Political Counselor of The Embassy of Peoples Republic of China to Georgia Mr. Jiao Huaixin and Deputy General Manager of China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Co., Ltd Mr. Huang Fengqiu.

Four-lane cement-concrete road, 5 overpasses – with two-level crossings and 3 parallel bridge crossings were constructed under the project.

Construction works commenced in December of 2012. Project is implemented by financial support of the World Bank and co-financing of the state budget of Georgia. Project cost is GEL 70 mln; more than 500 persons were employed by the project.

After Ruisi-Agara section comes into operation, road capacity on mentioned alignment will be increased and traffic safety will be improved.

Construction works were implemented by Chinese Company “China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Co”.
