Construction of the first 11,5 km section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road, which is characterized by waterlogged soil,  is ongoing by application of modern PVD technology.

Mentioned technology implies placement of vertical drains in the road base soil to ensure dissipation of water from the ground. This methodology reduces the likelihood of pavement deformation in future.

Project envisages construction of four-lane asphalt-concrete road, 8 bridge crossings and 27 structures. At the moment works for construction of structures, road base and communication network are ongoing.

First section of Samtredia-Grigoleti road runs through Samtredia city and villages of Samtredia and Abasha municipalities: Tolebi, Gormaghala, Pirveli Maisi and Gautskinari.

After completion of the project, movement will become more comfortable, safety level will be increased, transportation costs will be reduced thus fostering the increase of transit traffic.
