Yesterday, the works for restoration of damaged road section and elimination of disaster outcomes at km206 of Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze international road, which was damaged due to increase of water level in river Chkhara after intensive rain, were ongoing all night long under coordination of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

At dawn, due to intensive rain, water level of river Chkhara has raised again and impeded the works being performed at damaged section. In particular, to avoid flooding of culverts placed during the night it became necessary to dismantle them, welding works were also hindered. Adjacent area was washed out and flooded once again.

Elimination of repeated disaster outcomes have started in the morning and works for restoration of damaged section have resumed. Namely, riverbed is being cleaned and culverts are placed anew. The works are intensively performed and traffic will be restored at the shortest possible time.

At the moment, traffic is diverted to Zestaponi-Bagdati-Kutaisi road; movement is forbidden for trailers and semi-trailers.
