Due to intense rains, stone fall from roadside rocks became more frequent in high mountainous municipalities of Imereti and Qvemo Svaneti. Hence, a large amount of rock mass collapsed at km 49 and km 137 of Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili road and blocked the carriageway.

Traffic is resumed as a result of cleaning works carried out by coordination of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Team of professional rock climbers completed cleaning of rocks from dangerous boulders at Tskaltubo-Tsageri section. Similar works have commenced at Lentekhi-Lasdili section.

It should be noted that rock cleaning works have been implemented throughout Georgia, in almost all high mountainous municipalities during this year.
