Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is starting study of the road network to improve Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and achieve high safety standards on motor roads.

Union of South Korean companies „SOOSUNG ENGINEERING CO“ and „MOON ENGINEERING”, winning the bidding announced by RD, shall carry out the study. Contract with above mentioned company was signed a few days ago. Installation of Intelligent Transport Systems shall start on motor roads of the country after completion of study of road network (considering the needs revealed as a result of the study).

ITS include: installation of Variable Massage Signs (VMS), Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI), Video Incident Detection Systems, Road Weather Information System (RWIS); Also, arrangement of high standard technologies for power utilities and ventilation systems.

Representatives of winning company made a presentation on activities planned under the study for the representatives of RD and World Bank.
