Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Litanishvili inspected ongoing construction works at 18 km section of Kobuleti bypass road (Lot 2).

At mentioned section 2-lane asphalt-concrete pavement, 15 bridges, 2 tunnels and other artificial structures are under construction.

At present, main works for the construction of 8 bridges are completed. Construction of other bridges is actively progressing.

Due to the land acquisition related problems, construction of 1180m bridge – viaduct (the longest bridge in Georgia) is delayed, for the construction of which new technology – Movable Scaffolding System is used for the first time in Georgia.

Construction of Kobuleti bypass is important project for the region and overall the country’s economy, since local and transit movement through Adjara will be easier, travel time and therefore the costs will be considerably reduced. Transfer of movement from Adjara coastline to the new road will foster ecological improvement of resorts and comprehensive development of tourism in the region.

The project is financed by Asian Development Bank and cost of the project is GEL 209,852,079.67.
