Public discussion was held for Environmental Impact Assessment of Zemo Osiauri-Chumateleti road

Today the public discussion on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was held at the office of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Discussion was related to Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of works for upgrading E-60 East-West Highway section between Zemo Osiauri-Chumateleti (km126-km143)

The meeting aimed at providing information to local population under the impact of works planned for Zemo Osiauri-Chumateleti km126-km143 road section and other stokeholds. Public discussion of mentioned report was also held on May 25, 2015 at administrative building of Khashuri Municipal Government (Gamgeoba).

Objective of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment is to identify the risks and impact on natural and social environment during construction and operation; take mitigation measures and prepare the plan for monitoring of fulfilment of environmental requirements during construction and operation of mentioned section.

Works for upgrading the highway between Zemo Osiauri and Chumateleti cover construction of 13.8 km 4-lane section bypassing Khashuri, including 11 bridges and 3 tunnels. 

Report on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of works for upgrading E-60 East-West Highway section between Zemo Osiauri and Chumateleti  (km126-km143) was prepared by COWI Consulting and GAMMA Consulting.
