Deputy Minister of Regional Development and infrastructure, Eka Sepashvili met the head of the projects financed by the World Bank, Mustapha Benmamaar and other representatives of the mission.

The sides have discussed the implementation progress of institutional strengthening activities under the responsibility of MRDI. These activities are part of the 4th East West Highway Project and include the followings: preparation and implementation of the Communication and Road Safety Strategies, as well as the Road Sector Financing Strategy. A consultant hired by the World Bank has prepared Road Safety Strategy.  It is noted that the Roads Department has made significant progress in terms of road safety. Deputy Minister Eka Sepashvili pointed out that road safety is in high priority on Government’s agenda because of the commitments of the Association Agreement between Georgia and EU.

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will continue cooperation with the World Bank actively in the future.
