Chairman of Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Vazha Panchulidze and Deputy Chairman Nugzar Gasviani observed works progress at Agara-Zemo Osiauri section of the highway.
Construction base has been already arranged on 12 km Agara-Zemo Osiauri section, where machinery and plants necessary for construction and camps for personnel would be located. At this stage earthworks are ongoing at construction site. Project considers construction of four-lane cement-concrete road pavement and also arrangement of structures: 2 road interchanges, 4 bridges, 20 culverts and 3 agricultural underpasses.
Kuwaiti Company “Copri Construction Enterprises W.L.L .” won the bidding announced for construction of mentioned section. Contract value is more than GEL 105 mln. Modernization of Agara-Zemo Osiauri section (km19-km31) is being implemented under financing of the World Bank. Respective section is a part of E-60 highway. At this stage 150 persons are engaged in construction of Agara-Zemo Osiauri section out of which 40% are locals. Additionally 150 more persons will be employed at the next stage of the project.
Time for construction of 12 km Agara-Zemo Osiauri section is 2 years. Construction of 6 km would be completed by the end of the year and traffic would be diverted to respective section.
