Construction of 19 km Kobuleti Bypass road

Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is constructing 19 km Kobuleti bypass road (Lot 2). Today, Chairman of Roads Department  Vazha Panchulidze inspected works progress.  
At this stage construction of 300 m long tunnel, ground excavation and reinforcement of temporary arch are ongoing. Earthworks, construction of culverts and underpasses are nearly completion.  Asphalt-concrete pavement shall be paved on 18.9 km road; Construction of 16 bridges, among them 7 overpasses, 2 tunnels and 64 culverts is planned 
E-70 highway, passing through the seaside cities of Adjara and distinguished by rather high traffic intensity, has been causing inconvenience to local population and tourists over the years. After construction of mentioned road, transit traffic will be diverted from the seaside lane to the new road which will contribute to the improvement of ecological situation in resorts and development of tourism in the region. Besides, movement will become easier as for locals as well as for transit flows.  350 people are employed on works. Project is financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB).
