Rehabilitation of 13 km section of Senaki-Poti-Sarpi road is launched

Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia started implementation of projects scheduled for the first stage of 2015. The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure George Amashukeli and Chairman of Roads Department  Vazha Panchulidze monitored rehabilitation works of 13 km section of  Senaki-Poti-Sarpi road.

Respective road, which was amortized, has not been upgraded for decades. Design considers rehabilitation of 13 km road and construction of 1 bridge. At this stage gabions are arranged to widen the road. Also, reinforcement of road bed with piles and geotextile is planned; bridge crossing existing over the channel will be rehabilitated. Road base will be constructed by application of recycling method and two-layer asphalt-concrete pavement would be laid. At the same time culverts, gabions, supporting walls, concrete parapets and road signs would be arranged and horizontal marking works will be executed.

Project cost amounts to GEL 12 495 000, which is financed under the State budget. Project completion is expected by the end of the year. 250 people are employed by the project.
