The December 10 is “Road Builders Day".  The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, George Amashukeli and the Chairman of the Roads Department of Georgia, Vazha Pachulidze congratulated Georgian road builders their professional day.  

George Amashukeli has awarded 38 road workers, representatives of the road construction companies and the veterans working in the same field, for success during 2014. At the event Vazha Panchulidze informed the audience about the results of the activities of department during 2013-2014 and thanked the persons involved in road infrastructure works, for their hard work. The photo exhibition of the new constructed roads, bridges and tunnels was arranged as well.

It should be noted that in the last 2 years, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has employed almost 15 thousand people, directly and indirectly, on roads and bridges construction works.  During this period, 554 km roads and 87 bridges were rehabilitated. 50 km of the Highway was built and 16 new bridges were constructed.

Tradition of celebrating “Road Builders Day” was founded by George Robitashvili   48 years ago.  George Robitashvili has headed road sector from 1939 until 1984, during 47 years. The concluding meetings, along with representatives of the regions, have become tradition since 1965, and since 80s it officially has become a professional day.
