Kutaisi Bypass Road with its length of 32 km is the most important segment of E60 East-West Highway. This road enhances Georgia’s role as a connecting transportation corridor of Europe to Asia and reduces traffic flow in Kutaisi.  It also shortens travel duration by 30 minutes and 6 km. The new road segment will connect with the highway across Kopitnari Airport from Nakhshighele. On the bypass road section most sophisticated constructions were built, including 5 transportation knots, 6 highway bridges and 6 viaducts.
This high quality bypass road with the lifespan of 30-40 years, will provide comfortable, safe and quick travel experience for drivers and vehicle passengers. Although average daily traffic load of the road will be 7000-10000, it has a capacity of allowing from 15000 to 20000 traffic volume a day.
Out of 1000 workers employed on the road construction, majority were from nearby villages and towns. Kutaisi Bypass Road will support development of tourism potential as well.
Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia carries on road infrastructure network enhancement in full compliance with modern standards. Due to similar activities, 55 km highway segment was constructed, whereas prior to 2012, during 7 years, only 70 km could be opened.
