Roads Department is implementing 12 projects in Adjara region within the current year

Chairman of Roads Department Vazha Panchulidze visited Adjara under the works monitoring, carried out onsite inspection of work progress and met with representatives of Contractor Company.

This year Roads Department implements 12 projects, total amount of which is GEL 222 mln.

Construction of Kobuleti bypass road (LOT II), which is a part of E-70 highway, is ongoing in the region. Project is financed by Asian Development Bank and will be completed in 2016. Project envisages construction of 19 km section (LOT II). It is planned to lay 19 km asphalt-concrete pavement. Also construction of 16 bridges, among them: 7 overpasses, 2 tunnels and 64 culverts are considered by the project. Construction of 6 bridges has been already completed. Construction of asphalt-concrete pavement on the carriageway is remained.  41 structures including culverts and underpasses are arranged; at this stage, installation of piers and piles for 4 bridges are underway; slope stabilization and earthworks are progressing for one tunnel.

Construction of Kobuleti bypass road is important for development of Adjara region and also for tourism, economical and ecological advancement.  As a result of construction of respective road, traffic from Adjara coast line would be shifted into a new road, traffic towards Tbilisi-Batumi direction will become more comfortable  and travel time will be considerably reduced.

Rehabilitation works are progressing on 5 different sections in Adjara region. All five rehabilitation projects will be completed by the end of the year. Bank protection and disaster liquidation and preventive works are ongoing on 6 different sections.
