Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia David Shavliashvili, First Deputy Minister George Amashukeli and Chairman of Roads Department Vazha Panchulidze are in Dariali gorge and survey the existing situation.
Collapse of rock and mountain mass at km km134 of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road on August 20 resulted in change of the riverbed of Tergi River. Swollen river damaged the road base and Larsi border checkpoint. Landslide affected 2 km long road, out of which 1 km requires bank protection, reinstatement and arrangement works.
Heavy machinery is mobilized in the gorge from the disaster day. By this time the road is completely cleaned from rock and mountain mass collapsed due to the torrent. Works related to deepening the river bed and returning the river Tergi to its old river bed is underway.
Liquidation works are implemented by State Construction Company Ltd.
