Works related to returning the river Tergi to its old river bed are underway near the Larsi check point

Road cleaning and restoration works have been progressing in Dariali Gorge for three days. Torrent damaged 2 km road, out of which 800 m section is already cleaned by that time. Works on 1200m section at the adjacent territory of Larsi check point continues. River Tergi damaged the existing road base; all necessary machinery is mobilized on site. Works related to returning the river Tergi to its old river bed are underway. As soon as the River Tergi is restored to its old course, upgrading of road base will start. Cleaning works in Larsi check point shall start today.  Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia David Shavliashvili, First Deputy Minister George Amashukeli, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia, Vazha Panchulidze and other representatives of the Department are on site from the first day and surveyed the situation.

We would like to remind you that on 20th August, late at night landslide occurred at km134 of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road. Due to torrent deposits the carriageway has been blocked, Dariali Gorge and tunnel of the power plant was closed.
