Rehabilitated road is opened in Kutaisi

Rehabilitation of Kutaisi-Sapichkhia-Chognari road is completed in Imereti region. A new road, the shortest route connecting with Kutaisi center, is opened today, Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia, Mr. Vazha Panchulidze took over the works. Governor of Imereti Zaza Meparishvili and the First Deputy Governor Aleko Iosebashvili attended the road opening.

Kutaisi-Sapichkhia-Chognari road has not been rehabilitated for more than 25 years. The length of a newly upgraded section is 5 km, which serves population of more than ten villages. Also the road is connected with Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery; therefore it is a tourist route.

Rehabilitation works under the State financing is implemented by “Sakmilsadenmsheni” Ltd.  Project cost amounts to GEL 3 mln. 50 local persons were employed on works.  

Under the rehabilitation project new asphalt-concrete pavement is constructed; drainage system is improved; structures, bus stops and road signs are arranged.

At the road opening ceremony, Mr. Vazha Panchulidze met with representatives and employees of Construction Company and expressed his gratitude for the works performed. Chairman with the Governor reviewed progress of all projects that are being implemented in Imereti region at that stage.
