Construction works at Ruisi-Agara section of E-60 Highway are underway for 24 hours. Length of the section to be constructed is 19 km and modernization-reconstruction project considers maintaining of existing alignment at 11 km long section with necessary improvements in order to meet parameters of the road of category I, but Agara bypass road with new alignment will be constructed at 8 km long section.

Project cost amounts to GEL 70 million and Donor Organizations is the World Bank. More than 500 people, 70% of which are locals and mainly come from the adjacent villages, have been employed for construction works. The groups are working during 24 hours, in two shifts.

Major works for the construction of the road base has been completed, 36 reinforced concrete culverts, 6 underpasses and 3 overpasses have already been constructed. At this stage, construction of concrete pavement, 4 bridges and 5 overpasses are underway. 

Construction works are simultaneously ongoing at 7 different sections of the East-West highway; after completion of construction-reconstruction it will meet international standards that enable movement of vehicles faster and safer.
