Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia, Mr. Vazha Panchulidze met with the representatives of Asian Development Bank. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of Roads Department, Mr. Irakli Litanishvili, Representatives of Asian Development Bank – Mr. Prianka Seneviratne, Principal Transport Specialist, Ms. Tran Phuong, Environmental Specialist, Mr. George Kiziria, Senior Project Coordinator at Georgian Resident Mission, Mr. Archil Jorbenadze, Project Coordinator at Eurasian Transport Corridor Investment Center and Mr. Murman Katsitadze, Project Implementation Consultant.

Construction of Kobuleti Bypass Road Lot-II, one of the sections of the East-West highway, is financed by Asian Development Bank. ADB mission has been monitoring the construction of Kobuleti Bypass in Adjara for 5 days, studied the project related details and environmental and social issues.

At the concluding meeting of monitoring findings, the sides reviewed the progress of Kobuleti Bypass construction, ADB representatives also introduced to the Chairman the project related details and next activities were jointly planned. 

Length of the project section of Kobuleti Bypass Road Lot-II is 18.9km. At this stage, 16 bridges, 7 overpasses, 2 tunnels and 64 culverts are under construction, roadbed related works are ongoing.

About 350 people have been employed for the works, out of which 70% are local residents. The project will be completed in 2016.
