Today, the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, George Amashukeli made a speech on the annual ambassadorial of diplomatic missions at the hotel "Courtyard by Marriott".

On the 6th panel of the ambassadorial, which focused on the priorities of economic development of Georgia, George Amashukeli discussed the key trends and projects which are carried out by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. George Amashukeli focused attention on the effective use of Georgia’s potential as a transit country, and on importance of development of road infrastructure in this term. As the First Deputy Minister stated rehabilitation and construction of new sections will contribute to the development of tourism and attraction of private investments, which is crucial to the country's economic development.

George Amashukeli informed the audience about construction of the East-West highway and noted that the pace of construction and funding sources is increased within the recent years.

First Deputy Minister stated that a priority trend for economic development of the country is development of regional infrastructure, and noted that projects, which are implemented by the Ministry with co-operation and co-financing of various international organizations, consider as development of regional infrastructure as rehabilitation of monuments of cultural heritage, that promotes the region's economic recovery and development of private sector.

George Amashukeli also talked about the Regional Development Programme of Georgia for the years 2015-2017 that is recently approved by the government and noted that this document defines the goals, objectives and priorities of regional policy and determines necessary conditions for provision of balanced and sustainable socio-economic development for the regions of the country.
