Rehabilitation of 13.4 km Kveda Sakara-Sazano local road is underway

Rehabilitation of 13.4 km Kveda Sakara-Sazano (km1-km14) section is ongoing in Zestaponi and Terjola Municipalities of Imereti region.

Upgrading of local road started in September 2013 and will be completed in January 2015. Rehabilitation of 13.4 km road and one bridge is implemented by construction company “Black Sea Group”.  About 150 persons are involved in works, out of which 50% are local residents.

At this stage construction of asphalt-concrete pavement is ongoing, that belongs to A category asphalt and is distinguished with higher quality and firmness;  provision of stabilized layer, entrances to the private yards, sidewalks and enclosed bus stops is underway. Design considers   arrangement of culverts, ditches, gabions, junctions to local roads, road signs and road marking. At the same time rehabilitation works are progressing at 24m. long bridge over the river Buzha located on Kveda Sakara-Sazano road.

Project is implemented by financing of the World Bank and the cost amounts to GEL 6.532 thousand.

Respective section never had asphalt pavement. More than 10 villages used gravel road. As a result of project implementation road network will be improved that will make a positive impact on the social-economic condition of the population. Road rehabilitation will promote to population of more than 10 villages to connect with the rest of Georgia through comfortable and safe road.
