Representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure visited Ruisi-Agara Highway to inspect the construction works

Today, Deputy Minister Mr. George Amashukeli and Deputy Chairmen of Roads Department Mr. Vazha Panchulidze and Mr. Givi Chochia visited Ruisi-Agara section of the E-60 highway and received detailed information from the road constructor about the works’ progress. Later, RD representatives held a working meeting with the management of construction and supervision companies in Kutaisi regional office.

Construction works are intensively progressing at Ruisi-Agara seciton of the E-60 highway. The project, which envisages reconstruction of 19km road section, will connect Ruisi with the west Georgia.

Roads Department of Georgia is implementing the referred project with the World Bank’s support. More than 500 people, 70% of which is local staff and mainly come from the adjacent villages, have been employed for the construction works the cost of which amounts to GEL 70 million. The groups are working during 24 hours, in two shifts.

11km section of Ruisi-Agara highway is being improved and the new alignment of 8km Agara Bypass is under construction. Major works for the construction of the road base has been completed, 36 reinforced concert culverts, 6 underpasses and 3 overpasses have already been constructed. 4 bridges, 2 flyovers and 5 overpasses are under construction. After completion of reconstruction works, this section of the highway will meet international standards enabling movement of vehicles faster and more safe.

At the same time the works for construction of the following roads of the highway are underway: Agara-Zemo Osiauri, Ruisi-Agara, Zestaponi-Kutaisi, Kutaisi Bypass, Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia, Samtredia-Grigoleti and Kobuleti Bypass.
