Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia, Mr. Davit Shavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mr. George Amashukeli, Deputy Chairmen Mr. Vazha Panchulidze and Mr. Givi Chochia visited Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road to monitor the works’ progress.

Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road is part of one of the major 56km long Zestaponi-Kutaisi Bypass-Samtredia road of the E-60 highway. Construction works are actively progressing at 31 km road section. Construction of 17 km Kutaisi bypass and 14 km Kutaisi-Samtredia road sections will be completed in this summer. New section of the highway will start from village Nakhshirgele and after bypassing Kutaisi will connect to the existing highway near Kopitnari Airport.

As of today, 80% of the works have been performed, works for construction of concrete pavement, bridges and overpasses are underway. Construction of reinforced concrete culverts and underpasses are completed at both sections. Also, overpasses are at the late stage of construction in Geguti-Mukhiani and village Bashi.

As a result of the new bypass road, Kutaisi city will be unloaded from transit traffic, road capacity will increase and level of traffic safety will rise. 80% of the employees are local. Donor is Japan International Cooperation Agency.
