Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Elguja Khokrishvili together with MP Zakaria Kutsnashvili examined rehabilitated section of Tbilisi-Tianeti highway.

This section represents a segment of Tbilisi-Tianeti-Zaridzeebi-Jhinvali highway. Rehabilitation works on the section started in 2013 and finished in June 2014. The project works included roadbed construction, asphalt-concrete covering, installation of artificial pipes, concrete cuvettes and curbs. New  orientation poles and road signs were placed as well. The road was marked horizontally. The rehabilitation works were carried out by road construction company „Tbilisi“.

The project cost amounted to 1.894.0 GEL and was financed from state budget. As a result of the implemented works, transportation expenses and travel time will be reduced. Issues related to transportation will be solved for more than 3,500 residents of 16 villages and tourists.

On Tbilisi-Tianeti highway, another 12.7 km (km39-km51) long road section is being repaired as well. It passes village Khevsurtsopeli and connects the capital city to Tianeti. The project which costs 4.169.9 thousand GEL is financed by the World Bank and carried out by “Gzamsheni” Ltd.
