Upgrading of road network in line with modern standards is progressing intensively. East-West Highway Improvement-Reconstruction projects are priority road infrastructure projects.
17.3 km Kutaisi Bypass road is one of the main sections of the highway, which will be completed in August of the current year. Deputy Chairman of RD Vazha Panchulidze met with the Contractor and got acquainted with the work progress.
Currently, concrete pavement is laid on 15 km long section. 80% of works are implemented on bridges. Construction of artificial structures, 32 culverts, 9 underpasses, 10 bridges and overpasses is progressing. Kutaisi Bypass road project envisages construction of cement-concrete pavement taking into consideration perspective of adding two lanes in future.
City will be unloaded from transit flows, traffic capacity will be increased and road traffic safety would be improved as a result of construction of Kutaisi Bypass Road.
Construction works of Kutaisi Bypass Road are implemented by “TODINI Costruzion Generali SPA” TAKENAKA CIVIL ENGINEERING&CONSTUCTION CO. LTD“. Donor is Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Contractual Cost for construction of Kutaisi Bypass Road (LOT I) is GEL 77,9 mln and Euro 20,6 mln. Project started in November 2012.
