Liquidation works caused by disaster are resumed in Dariali

Today from 07:00 a.m. State Construction Company Ltd resumed liquidation works in Devdoraki gorge. Heavy machinery is mobilized in the gorge and rescue and cleaning works continue in customary mode.  Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia George Amashukeli, Chairman of Roads Department Davit Shavliashvili and his Deputy Vazha Panchulidze are on-site.

Relevant specialists kept under observation glacier, Devdoraki and Anali gorges and also adjacent territories all day long yesterday. At the same time, seismological observation of the glacier and information analysis was undertaken.

Specialists took a decision to resume works in Dariali gorge based on data analysis and results of visual and photo observations.

As is known, rescue and liquidation works of disaster effects are progressing in the ravine since May 17, wherein 70 units of heavy machinery is mobilized and about 200 personnel of different agencies are engaged.

Currently, specially formed teams of scientists continuously proceed with seismological observation of the glacier. Non-stop monitoring of Devdoraki gorge and mouth of Amali-Devdoraki Rivers is ensured by specialists of relevant field and Border Police.  

Representatives of different agencies undertake complex measures in order to ensure safety of personnel working in the ravine, avoid any complications and consider any kind of minimal risk.
