Rehabilitation of 8 km secondary Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road is progressing in Kakheti region. Project cost is GEL 3 663 116. Works are implemented by roads construction company “Serpantine”.

Project considers: cleaning of existing concrete drainage channels, dismantling of existing pipes and power poles and installation of new ones; milling of damaged asphalt-concrete pavement (removal of damaged asphalt and upgrading), arrangement of leveling layer with sand and gravel aggregates, upper wearing layer of the carriageway, gabions, junctions and road signs. Project envisages horizontal marking of rehabilitated road. At this stage arrangement of leveling layer and installation of pipes is underway. Rehabilitation works started on April 4, 2014 and would be completed by the end of the year. 

Pshaveli-Abano-Omalo road has strategic importance. It starts from the village Pshaveli (left junction at km22 of Akhmeta-Kvareli-Ninigori-Lagodekhi road ) and ends at the territory of the village Lechuri. Respective road is the only connecting road to Omalo and unique tourist places. Accordingly, the road is used as for agricultural as well as for tourist purposes.

It should be noted that the sharp increase in tourist flows is observed within the recent years. Rehabilitated section will pass through the village Pshaveli and Lechuri.
