Works related to upgrading of road network in line with modern standards are actively progressing.  Modernization-reconstruction projects of E-60 (Poti-Tbilisi-Red Bridge) and E-70 (Poti-Batumi-Sarpi) highways represent high priority for the government.  Currently, works are progressing simultaneously at 7 different sections of the highway.

Kutaisi Bypass road and Kutaisi Bypass road-Samtredia road represent main sections of the highway. Length of Kutaisi Bypass Road is 17.3 km, but length of Kutaisi Bypass road-Samtredia road is 24.0 km. Construction of respective sections will be completed in August of the current year.

At this stage, 88% of works are implemented on 9 km Kutaisi Bypass road. Cement-concrete pavement is laid and works are proceeding at other sections. Construction of bridges and culverts is ongoing in a concurrent mode, also earth works are underway. Construction of artificial structures, 32 culverts, 9 underpasses, 10 bridges and overpasses is progressing. Construction project of Kutaisi Bypass road envisages construction of cement-concrete pavement taking into consideration perspective of adding two lanes in future.

Concrete pavement was constructed at 7,5 km section of Kutaisi bypass road – Samtredia section in 2013. Construction of culverts and underpasses is finalized on 14 km long section. Construction of viaducts at the territory of Geguti-Mukhiani and the village Bashi are at the completion stage. Arrangement of embankment, sub base and base of carriageway are actively progressing. Construction of bridges and overpasses at other sections are underway. 29 underpasses, 24 culverts, 8 overpasses and bridges are constructed within the scope of the project.

Construction works on LOT I and LOT II of Kutaisi Bypass Road are implemented by “TODINI Costruzion Generali SPA” TAKENAKA CIVIL ENGINEERING&CONSTUCTION CO. LTD“. Donor is Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Contractual Cost for construction of Kutaisi Bypass Road (LOT I) is GEL 77,9 mln and Euro 20,6 mln. Project started in November 2012. Contractual Cost for construction of Kutaisi bypass road – Samtredia section is GEL 69,6 and Euro 20,9 mln.
