Vice Speaker of Parliament, Majority member of Rustavi Mr. Zviad Dzidziguri, Governor of Kvemo Kartli Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and Mayor of Rustavi Mr. David Jikia along with representatives of “Sakgzametsniereba” inspected civil works progressing at Rustavi-Marneuli road.

Rehabilitation works for Rustavi-Marneuli shortest road will commence very soon and would be completed within this year. Funds needed for rehabilitation works would be allocated by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Measuring and design works completed at respective section today. As the Governor of Kvemo Kartli Giorgi Mghebrishvili stated, rehabilitation of respective section has a high importance for the region.

“We can say that this project has strategic importance, in particular, this road would link Rustavi to Marneuli, but after completion of construction, goods turnover will be increased between two cities. Local population would be able to use shortest and convenient route” declared Giorgi Mghebrishvili.

Mayor of Rustavi Mr. David Jikia stated that the distance between Rustavi and Marneuli will be shortened by 34 km as a result of rehabilitation. 

“The mentioned road was used for goods turnover between Rustavi and Marneuli several years ago, but now, locals carry cargo through Tbilisi. It is natural that Tbilisi-Rustavi road will be unloaded as a result of construction of respective road”-stated David Jikia.

Zviad Dzidziguri said that a perspective of construction of agricultural products processing manufactures arises due to rehabilitation of Rustavi-Marneuli section.

“This road is essential artery for the whole Kvemo Kartli and I think that it has a quite specific importance. After completion of construction, Rustavi will become interesting city in terms of realization and processing of agricultural products. We have already discussed this issue with the Ministry of Agriculture. So, opening of agricultural manufactures in Rustavi acquire importance” –stated Zviad Dzidziguri.
